Stennett is being present thank you madam clerk this is a special meeting of the Lexington Urban County Council and we have some carryover business from last Thursday which was introduced by councilmember McCord councilmember cord would you like to give us a refresher on that pleaser certainly vice mayor we last week we did something a little out of order in the budget but general services link during the budget process found that the Parks Department needed some direction from the council as to which pools we might close which how long pools will be open and so forth and after a number of options the council voted and we had first reading last week for a resolution that would open all of the Fay County pools on their opening days they would all run until August 1st all pools except for the four family aquatic centers would close on August 1st and then the family aquatic centers would stay open till the end of the season that way we could cover the the service need of pools without having any one neighborhood or one area singled out and it was a creative solution to to a dilemma that we had that today we're going to have second reading on thank you sir all right madam clerk you give us a second reading please second reading of resolution number one a resolution approving the closure of all Lexington Fayette County government swimming pools except family aquatic centers on August 1 2010 for calendar year 2010 all right there's a motion to approve the second reading and a second by councilmember Gordon is there any discussion hearing councilmember Feigl thank you vice mayor I just wanted to add a few comments having served on the General Services Committee we we really struggled with how to handle cutting our budget without cutting services to any particular neighborhood there were several swimming pools that were underutilized and we consider closing those but in fairness to every neighborhood we felt like that this was the best option because August is our least used month of the summer for the swimming pools we felt like that to close the pools the neighborhood pools and just leave the family aquatic centers open would still provide the services for everybody so I just wanted to to just comment that this was a budget reduction effort and that we felt like this was the best way to handle it and I know it's tough you know to think about the pools closing in August but hopefully folks will have the opportunity to visit some of the other pools this summer so thank you vice mayor thank you any other other discussion we're ready for a vote all in favor please say aye and we need a roll call right mr.
