Olivia, who's our 12th district council members. Legislative aid and Stephen Howard and Joanna. I see your face now. So. Sending those out last Friday, get all your minutes. And the other info that she usually sends, let's just to show a hands. If you have gotten yours and have had a chance to review. Okay. So, were there any changes additions. Corrections anybody, I will say that between Lena and Beth, they do a very good job of the minutes. I always try to thank you too, because it does take time. To do it and this is a legal document that we record and there have been numerous times recently. We've had to go back and review some of those minutes and proceeding. So it's really good to have them. If there are no changes or additions. I'll entertain a motion to accept the August 26 minutes. Per the way they were sent to you all so moved. All right, that's Phil. And 2nd, all right, all in favor signify by show of hands. We sort of have to see hands to make sure. Okay, good Beth. I count. I count everybody. Except I didn't see Joanna hers is off right this minute. Okay, old business. Despite the rule and management boards. Letter and research on this. Beth, you want to continue on with what the council has done? Yes, so the council passed the solar Zoda that allows large scale industrial solar in the agricultural zones. Earlier this month, Mayor Gordon veto that legislation on September 18th. It's my understanding primarily from news articles that the law department is recommending the council revisit this when they return the week of October 5th. If they are going to revisit it at all. The council has to have 9 votes to override the veto and the vote was 8 to 7. And so 1 member who voted against it would have to change their vote in order to override the veto. While we're talking about this, I want to. Condemn to comment on what Jim Coleman has said and what he did at the hearing that night before the council. He put together a great. Presentation that he gave before the council, he mailed them email to you all. You should have gotten it as well. And as a result of that channel, 18 has contacted him. About talking about small farms and solar and to talk about all the places they could put it rather than on our land. So pat yourself on the back. Jim, thank you for going to the meeting that particular night. There were several things going on large fundraisers and other things in the community where. Board members, a lot of us had already signed up for other things to do. So you did attend. You did give it the effort and thank you for doing that. Thank you very much. Madam chair. And I hope all of you all, he did forward that to everyone. I hope you had a chance to see what he did. He spent some valuable research time looking at all of the big parking lots, open lots. Places in Fayette County where they could do this and came up with lots of acres where these things could be installed without putting or be installed at least 1st. Before they look to any of the ag land, which did include the, um. The old Hailey Pike land and since then, they've interviewed the mayor on TV as well. They followed Jim's presentation with the mayor and they also interviewed Adam Edelman. And they are installing that on the Hailey Pike. So they were really good interviews and we did get some good time out of it. So thank you for doing that. Beth, or does anybody want to say anything else about. About that, other than keep your fingers crossed that no 1 flips their vote and that they don't hear it again and they don't have 9. so. Anything else. Madam chair, I agree with you. I think it's a good idea for us all to tell our neighbors to watch this very closely and to email and call our council members, especially those who had voted. Yes, to ask them to embrace the mayor's decision to veto and to work together towards protecting our farmland while at the same time being committed to solar and 0 emissions that there is an alternative way to doing it. Yes, I have a question. Is there a. A date, is this going to be is a revote something that's put on the docket in advance, or is it could pop up at any council meeting. Where they thought they might have the votes, they could have the take the vote. Tiffany is with us today. I'm honestly not sure when that they expect this to go back to council, but they would, it would have to be on an agenda. I think, so you would still have notice of it before that it happened. And it's a, it's got, it's got to be 9 votes. Not not 60% of who's there, but it's got to be 9 votes. To override yeah, and I believe you might look. You might look this up Tiffany, but I believe there is a set time. They only have so many days. In order to do that, there are only so many days for the mayor to veto and I believe only so many days for them to bring it up. To try to override, but you might look that up to make sure. Okay. Yeah, I'll take a look. What we've heard is, I think it was commissioner Barbary who emailed the council members and I think he clarified that it has to be within a reasonable amount of time, but there's not a set number of days. I want to say, so he specified that if it were going to take place, they would need to act on October 8, which is their 1st council meeting. After fall break, so as far as we know, that's when it would be. Thank you Olivia and thank you for keeping up and always sending these out in your newsletter. It's very good. And I will say again to all of you board members. If you do not get the 12th district newsletter, please do sign up for it. It's free has great information and it will help you keep up with what's going on in the rural area. The next thing on our agenda, the update on the and the small farm. Applications. Yes, so we received 10 applications, which is somewhat amazing since people only had 3 weeks to apply and it's a good group. That totaled over 700 acres, so that's very exciting. We are urgently working with them to get all the paperwork filled out for the deadline, which is this. September 25th, this Friday, and so it, there could be 1 or 2 that have title issues that would have to wait until the deadline and yesterday will probably have in March. And so we've given those landowners instructions to work on that. So we'll hopefully be able to submit them by then, but it's looking very well. And the. So, I'm very busy with that, but after we get through the federal application on Friday, we will switch gears to the small farm program, which the deadline is November 2nd. And we are getting a lot of inquiries about that. I get inquiries. Abulina gets those when I'm not there, Gloria's getting them, so I expect that we will have good interest in the small farm program as well. And thank you to Jim Coleman, who took the initiative to set up a town hall with or webinar with his neighborhood associations. It's Briar Hill and Royster Road neighborhood associations, and we had some good attendees who ask a lot of questions and have several different size properties, both PR and small farm. And so we're hopeful that some of those may come to fruition. So, thank you Jim for doing you Beth and chair for being there. They really enjoyed it and I had a chance to email everything out, including the recording of the town hall as well as the presentation. So, hopefully we'll get some responses, but I really appreciate you all support on that. The synopsis that you sent out from the meeting with all of that information to all the, to the people who did attend and everybody who'd signed up that didn't make it. That was very good. So thank you for doing that. Thank you. It was about 35 people on that list. Yeah. I do have 1 thing to note, make sure and on both of these applications, both our PR and our small farm that if there are any corrections on there, I know the soil map information. When they call the conservation office, they're not sure just who soil map of the water quality map. I know now we're doing the soil quality in house, the water quality, make sure I think that will save calls and emails to you and me if the things in those applications are corrected. Okay, yes, I'm glad you pointed that out. I need to make myself a note because last year, the county extension service was helping people. Create these plans if they needed help, and it says that on their website, but their staff member in charge of that reached out to me this year and said, she is not helping and directed them to the conservation district. So, I do need to make that change on the, and that was confusing for these 10. we just got because 2 or 3 of those call me while you were on vacation and gone that they called and got conflicting information. They didn't know how to fill it out. They were in a bit of a panic trying to get those done. And we don't want anybody to be frustrated or feel like that. They can't fill out an application. Okay. Okay. Yes, I'll make a note. And the, thank, thank you, Brian for working with people on that, because I'm sure you're getting some of the phone calls to and Beth on these applications that we're getting ready to send in our ones. Are you working with Brian? Are you and Brian working together? Because since you don't have all the information that we needed in order to make a really good guesstimation of the funds that are needed to be matched. We are, we actually just talked yesterday and texted last night and things. So, yes, they are aware. I actually talked to that him and we can use that to go on to the grant application under new business. But so our staff, we have one person who usually works with and makes all of our maps. She resigned three days after our application cycle. And then one person for went on unexpected leave indefinitely. And so they are very short handed. And so they have worked hard. Their director has actually just the last few days taken it upon himself and got our soil maps done and our aerial maps that show road frontage and legal entrance and then calculate the existing impervious surfaces. So, we have everything now that we need for. We don't yet have all of the ones that show, like, environmentally sensitive areas and historic areas and that, and they're sending those on over. We may have those in time, but so I don't have our rankings ready for you all yet, but I'll have those October and share that with you all. So, what we are doing today would be just to ask you all right now. To authorize me to place all eligible applicants on the 2027 application for match. Did you get all that board members? Yeah, because we need to authorize. I need a motion to authorize those applications on that. All right, all in favor. The motion was Margaret and the 2nd was Jim. Hey, and back up to the a little bit on our small farms that we're going to start because there are already Jim's had the meeting and I have 1 lined up for some of the neighborhoods or some of the neighborhood that had that fell into the a B. That applied last time and I guess they need to reapply. If you will, Beth, just send me the list of those 37 that we had last time and their status. What's closed if it was that they needed a bank letter. Or if they were in the, or what, whatever reason it was, did they need the water quality and I'll. I'll go back with those people and see if I can help the previous ones. I know 1 of the guys that you met with before didn't meet the farm. And since then, he's gotten a horse and this week, he's put up his running shed. And so I'll go back with them. If you'll send me an updated on those 37. Okay, work on that too. Okay. All right. And now your PDR report that we have a council. Yes, so we are required by ordinance to provide an annual report to council and they have scheduled that for October 6. And it will be given at 1 PM in the council chamber before their general government and planning committee meeting. And we have 13 closings to report this year. So, I think it will go very well. Last year was our 1st year having been certified and I think we had 12 or 15 to report and they loved it and complimented us. And, you know, I've joked that I always feel a little envy because some other programs give their report and get complimented, but we really hadn't received so many compliments before. But last year, when we reported so many closings, we received a lot of compliments and kudos from the council and Gloria always attends with me. So, we will send that out to you. I've drafted the PowerPoint. They have a specific format they want us to use and we're reporting those closings and then how many contracts we have and all of the applications we just received. And with those, with the ones under contract and the new applications, we do not share addresses or anything. It's just farm number and acreage in the report. But I'll send that out to you all right before October 6th and any of you are welcome to attend. But we expect it to go very well. Oh, and the other thing is, so we're also required to give that same report to the planning commission. And I've reached out to Jim Duncan to see about an October date and they try to do that in their work session. And that's what we hope for, because if you do it in a regular meeting, we're at the end and it can go all day if it's zoning or something, but we don't have that date yet. And as soon as we do, I'll notify you all. Are there any questions about that? You all. They, they have been pleased and Beth did a really good job of lining it up. Last time, and we're how many acres do, you know, off the top of your head this time best of those 13. I, it's not, it's not a huge number. I think it's less than 500 because 9 of those were small farms, but I think the council will be excited that this is we're reporting our 1st, small farms and they're very supportive of small farms. Yes, yes. So, I think this will be good. Okay. And we're going to have a closed session. You all, we have both of our attorneys here. We have Tiffany and John. I'm going to call for a motion to enter closed session present to K. R. S. 61, 8101 C. for the discussion of proposed or pending litigation against or on behalf of the rule and management board. Margaret's made the motion. Do we have a 2nd. Oh, I see Jonathan and Robert and the time is 321. Okay, that's everybody now. And like, Stevie, can you tell me. And like, Stevie, can you tell me. All right. Robert and Hannah raised their hand for a second. All in favor, show of hands that we're back in open session. All right. Now, I need another motion to authorize the staff to send a Notice of Violation letter to Farm 712002 with the amendments as discussed in closed session. So moved. That motion's been made by Margaret. Is there a second? Phil has seconded. All in favor, show of hands. All right. Good. Thank you all. And John, thank you very much for attending. We certainly appreciate all your help always in all of these. Thank you. Next, we have Treasurer's Report. Phil. Thank you, Madam Chair. We have several invoices in our packet of information that have all been paid. First one is from Charlie Farmer for 36 on-site monitoring reviews at $100 each, so his invoice is for $3,600, and it's been paid. The list of the farms inspected are in our materials also. Then we had two invoices from Kenimer Appraisals, both at $4,000 each for one was for PDR Farm number 2-2025 and for number 5-2025. And then we have an invoice from FedEx to create $1,500 postcards at just under $0.22 each. These are what gets mailed out to solicit people to the program. That was $328.77. And then the final invoice for some quadient and tell me if I'm wrong on this, but it appears those are the folks that actually mailed out 1,801 items in first-class mail for $1,010.12. And that postage bill kind of shocked Beth. She needs to make sure she asks next year for more money for postage, since we're postage of materials for doing all these small farms now. Are there any questions? You want to comment about that, Beth? Well, yes. So the difference was there are over 1,000 eligible small farms even after eliminating duplicates. And so usually that bill for postage, we send them through the LFUCG mailroom. And usually it may be around $200 or $300 for a PDR. And so when it came through, because we only have $2,000 in that budget, and that paid for the postcards and I was like, what? So it's just something we'll need to ask for in the future. We'll need to increase that account to allow for the small farm program. And the council should certainly understand that. Was this too big a job for the government mailroom? You had to go to a third party? I don't think, but I'll ask. I believe Lena actually mailed those for us, and I see she's had to step off, but I'll check and see about that. But I think it costs the same regardless. It's just, we do big 5x8 postcards rather than small, and so they're big and they're heavy duty, and so that may be it. Yeah. And they've worked, because people are already commenting. Well, if it costs the same and somebody else other than you has to do the work, that's good. Yes. Anything else to comment? That's all I've got from Treasurer. I guess next is Chair's report. Right, Beth? And I did attend on September 1st, the council meeting Ag Day, as did some others of our board. Thank you all very much. Beth and I both attended. It was a pretty warm day at, what, 92 degrees? And a lot of that at the horse park and at the Clark's farm were outdoors and hot, but it was a very good day, and we had good attendance. We have had lots of calls and I have about the PDR, about that September deadline. We do need to fix Beth's phone so that when people try to call her or email her and can't get it, I know if she's on vacation, it's supposed to forward to Lena, although last time the new system didn't flip it over and they were still calling long after Beth was back, saying that she was gone. So she wasn't gone that long. We did, as Jim Coleman's already said, Beth and I both participated in the Zoom. He did, and that's great. And I'm happy that I've gone in several times to sign on the offers people have accepted, so we're moving on to closings, and that's good news because there are several really large nice farms from our 25 offerings. So, Phil. How many council members actually were on the Farm Tour day? Do you remember? About five. Let's see. The 12th District was there. Help me, Robert. You were there. Vice Mayor Wu, Jennifer Reynolds, Whitney Baxter, and I think Phil Boone. There were about five or six. I cannot remember exactly, but... Joseph Hale. Who else? Who did you say, Robert? Joseph Hale. Yes, he was there. We had about half. Half a dozen. And they served lunch, and it was at the Horse Park, and it was... I really encourage you all to always attend when at all possible. And that's it. Beth? I'll just add on to what Gloria said about the contracts she's been signing. So, all five of the farms that NRCS funded with their 2026 funding have signed their contracts, and so those have been assigned to John Watts, so he is starting work on that. And thank you to Gloria for making that effort all the time to come into town as these landowners sign that and get those signed. And so, yes, we're proceeding along and getting ready to submit our new applicants on this application for 2027 funding, so hopefully that will go very well as well. Well, and I ought to note while you're talking, we're both talking about the closings, that I'm sorry that Lena's not on here because it has made it much easier signing these papers now that she has gotten her ability to notarize these for us. So, that's nice. And now she can meet me and we can do that transaction easily, so thank you to her. Make sure we make note of that. I'm going to go around now to board members making, because some of you have been really active. Beth, did you see that Christine Stanley had been trying to sign in? I did not. It's not been popping up. Okay, well, she texted me. Hey. So, she said are you still there? Because she couldn't figure out why we weren't. Okay, I'll go around to the board members. Margaret, first up. Nothing to report. Phil. Nothing to report. Hannah. Well, Iroquois Hunt Club had our annual A Day in the Country horse show on Sunday, and I know some on the board attended, and thank you very much. It was a wonderful day of celebrating our sport and being in the beautiful bluegrass that we're privileged to live here with on land that has been conserved and just sharing with the community, both equestrian and non-equestrian, the love of our sport and where we live and the importance of treasuring it and preserving it and caring for it. And I was really honored to be able to help out a little bit. Well, and it was it's true that we had board members there, and we also had farm owners come up and ask questions about I had several come just sit beside me to ask about small farm easements and have questions. Yes, and it's our way to also thank the land owners. Thank you, Gloria, for allowing us to hunt on their land, and I'm so glad that they spoke with you, so that's wonderful. It really was a nice time. Jonathan. Nothing to report. Thank you. Stephen. No report today. Thank you. Robert. Thank you, Gloria. I also attended the Council Ag Day, which was very nice, though hot. I'm glad for the weather change here recently. Last night, Fayette County Farm Bureau held our legislative appreciation dinner to thank the work of council members, representatives, and state senators, as well as members of our federal administration for the time and energy they put into their jobs working for the public interest. It was well attended, and we got positive feedback on our program where we had some of our local producers talk about their agricultural operations and some of the unique challenges, but also unique opportunities that they see operating here in Lexington. It was a good night, and we're sorry we couldn't make it, but there's always next year. And put me back on the list, so I'll be getting notices about when your meetings are. Okay, I'll look into that, Gloria. Thank you. Jim Coleman. Madam Chair, I'm on the committee for Council Member Shayla Lynch's protection of structures in the Hamlets, and we are right in the process of planning a town hall in Uttinger Town, where I live, to get feedback from the community on the structures that the community would like to protect, as well as the Planning Commission will be there to talk about the different types of overlays and to get the public input. The second thing is that I did attend the Paw Paw Conference. Dr. Kirk over at Dr. Pomper at Kentucky State did a great job last week, bringing about 250-300 guests from across the region to come there to learn about how to grow Paw Paw trees. Yours truly was on the farmer panel as a newbie farmer in the area of Paw Paw trees. My trees are growing like crazy, and probably in about three or four years they'll be ready to harvest and make a lot of ice cream. And then the last thing I'd like to make the announcement that Kentucky State will be holding its annual Small Farms Conference on November 19th at the Benson Agriculture Center. Did they get the Uttinger Town road finally smoothed back down and repaved? They have. You know, they've done a lot of work up in Columbus, I think in Uttinger Town too, but they really did a lot in Columbus. Well, right across from you is that wonderful little clubhouse. Yes. The clubhouse and the church and wonderful wonderful things. Council Member Lynch, she wants to help us to protect like, you know, the Julius Rosenwald School was torn down and, you know, the owners built up residential property there. Those are examples that we want to prevent in the future. The overlays can't preserve the use of the property, but it can protect the actual structure. And so that's what we'll be communicating with the community. And a couple of our members have had to sign off, so Joanna usually has a great report, but she's not here today. Well, she was here, but she has that class, so she signed off. Is there anything else? Did I miss anyone? Brian, do you anything you want to say? Or Sean? I just want to let you all know that we our initial allocation is going to be 6.5 million dollars for ALE. And to my knowledge, that's the most we've agricultural land easement. So we're real excited about that. And actually, I've had several conversations with Beth, like, you know, how many applications have you got? So, you know, so we hope to utilize all those funds for sure. So, so Beth says you've got several applications already queued up for us. And then to reiterate that we will have an additional sign up. So, and we can work with you all on the, on the, on the timing of that. Probably looking at, at mid to late March, but that, that could be modified if, if needed. So. Great. Yes. Very excited. And it's a great partnership. Thank you. They did end up voting on the farm bill, right? They did. It passed. So we're good. So we've got, we've got funding secured. Yes. Good. Any other comments, Sean, you have anything you want to add? No report. Make it, make it worth your having been sitting here all this time listening to this. You keep it interesting. Thank you for having me. Anything else, Tiffany, that you need to give us a heads up about? I don't have anything to add today. Okay. Gloria, I will note that Christine did just join for the record. Christine, we're talking about things that the board members have done. Is there anything that you want to report that you've done since our last meeting? Oh, gosh. No, I don't think so. Okay. That's good. Let's see. I guess. And let's see as. And Jonathan just said he was leaving. So that came up. So everybody's had their comment time. Our next meeting will be October the 28th. So before then, you'll need to get your moms and your pumpkins out and your, which is the 1. so, because we won't meet until after. We'll meet just before Halloween. So you'll have to get all your stuff out ahead. So, October the 28th. Same time. We're still going to be zooming right? Beth. Yeah, and I need a motion. The time is. Uh, 442, so our next meeting, I need a motion to adjourn. Until our is that Margaret. Yeah, and 2nd. I have Robert and Jim both so lots of 2nd. All in favor signify with a show of hands. Thank you all so much for coming and always do let Beth know. Um, so you'll get credit for your attendance. And because it's always important, because when we have a closed session, especially on these offers that will be coming up on these properties. We'll be having these appraisals and we'll need to be making offers. So it's very important that we always have a quorum. So, please, thank you for coming. Please let her know always and. See you next time. Thank you all later. Thank you. Recording stopped. I'm giving doesn't mean too much to me. Lots of people have to make believe I'm living. I can't decide who I should be. I understand about indecision. I don't care who I can be and people living in competition. All I want is to have my peace of mind. Take a look ahead. Oh. So. So. So. So. The sun will have to. They'll have to run. You know the girl can be a bone man. Yeah! And when my Carolina's blow down, you know the girl know how to fight. Yeah! Don't think we're gonna make it. There's nothing else that anyone could give. I don't think we're gonna make it. There's nothing else that anyone could say. Yeah! I almost got the feeling, the Carolina locking it that way. Said I'm waiting on the train man, to burn, take a burn. Ain't no way, you know what I say. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Oh, I'm a bone man. Oh, I'm a bone man. Why, my man? Why, my man? Why, my man? Why, my man? Why, my man? Trainman kept his promise, I'm gonna try and go on back there. Trainman kept his promise, I'm gonna try and go on back there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't sleep anyway, thinking about what my Carolina said. Oh, my Carolina, running like a bird set free. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I said. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm face to face with an angel. How'd you get those eyes? Coming true. I'm holding heaven in my arms tonight. Everything about you is so perfectly right. I've never been there, but I think I might be holding heaven in my arms tonight. I'm not sure where you came from, but I think my lucky star's above. And I got the chance to have a dance, but one dance just ain't enough. I think I'm falling in love. I'm holding heaven in my arms tonight. Everything about you is so perfectly right. I've never been there, but I think I might be holding heaven in my arms tonight. I'm holding heaven in my arms tonight. Everything about you is so perfectly right. I've never been there, but I think I might be holding heaven in my arms tonight. I'm holding heaven in my arms tonight. Ooh, what you want, baby I got it. Ooh, what you need, you know I got it. Ooh, all I'm asking, is for a little respect when you come home. Just a little bit. Hey, baby. Just a little bit. When you get home. Just a little bit. Mister. Just a little bit. I ain't gonna do you wrong. Why you gone? Ain't gonna do you wrong. Cause I don't wanna. All I'm asking, is for a little respect when you come home. Just a little bit. Baby. Just a little bit. When you get home. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. I'm out to give you all my money. And all I'm asking in return, honey, is to give me my profits when you get home. Just a, just a, just a, just a, just a, just a, just a little bit. When you get home. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. Ooh, you're kissin' sweeter than honey. And guess what? So is my money. All I want you to do for me is give it to me when you get home. Yeah, baby. Whip it to me when you get home. Now, just a little bit. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Well, I'm out to give you all my money. And all I'm asking in return, honey, is to give me my profits when you get home. Just a, just a, just a, just a, just a little bit. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Well, I'm out to give you all my money. And guess what? So is my money. All I'm asking in return, honey, is to give me all my money. Hi, I'm Danica here with the Lexington Senior Center. And I'm going to teach a chair yoga class with a little bit of standing, but we've got options all the way throughout. So before we get started, go ahead and find a sturdy chair. So not a recliner, not a rocking chair. Find a nice, sturdy chair. Maybe something, maybe your dining room chair. And beyond that, you may find it useful today if you have a yoga strap. That's cool. But we could also use a belt, a dish towel, hand towel. And beyond that, if you're perhaps a bit shorter, maybe you grab some yoga blocks or a couple of dictionaries that are about the same height and put them just underneath your feet to bring your knees up a little higher if you feel like you've got to reach to reach the floor. So a couple items that may be of help for your practice today. Take the time to grab that and then meet me in a seat. Whenever I get started, I like to just kind of root around. Notice how I'm feeling. How are my shoulders feeling? How are my hips feeling? Ask your neck and your back, how is it feeling? Did we sleep okay? And if not, that's okay. Just know to be ginger with those areas of the body as we proceed. So to arrive right here, let's take three big breaths. Big inhale. Open the chest. Fill up the belly. Big exhale. Sigh of relief. All you got to do is follow along. You can almost turn your brain off, kind of. Two more breaths, just like that. Big breath in. Big breath out. Relax the shoulders. Relax the jaw. One more lovely breath, just like that. And then we'll go right into a nice, easy warm-up. Starting right here in the neck, let's just slowly shake our head now. Side to side. Not necessarily pushing too much, just working with the range of motion that we currently have. And keeping in mind that if I suggest any movements that you don't like or your body doesn't like, you can say no. You can take a little break, just take a sip of water, and catch me on the next movement. Bring your head to the center. And slowly shake your head, yes. So I'm going to tuck my chin down, but I'm really not going to lift my chin too high. I might put too much stress on the back of the neck. Dropping the chin. Lifting gently. Saying yes to this yoga class, because you already have. Saying yes to any movements that feel good today. Good. One more little neck stretch. Drop the chin. And we're just going to let the head rock side to side so it looks something like this. Just left to right while keeping the chin low. And when you're satisfied, bring the head right back up to where we started. Moving into the shoulders. If we're really tight today, start off with just some easy shrugs. And then we're going to bring the head back up to where we started. And then we're going to bring the head back up to where we started. But if we have a little flexibility, maybe it feels nice to go ahead and move backwards here. Drawing big circles behind us. Maybe we can move with the breath. Inhale to lift the shoulders. Exhale, pull them behind you and drop. Inhale to lift. Exhale to pull back. Inhale to lift. Exhale to pull. And just kind of working out all of the tightness. Maybe your shoulders are a little noisy. Mine usually are. As long as it's not hurting, that's all right. And of course, if we have, say, one good side and one less good side, work with one at a time. Nothing wrong with that. Good. Once you're satisfied, we'll take a few of the opposite directions. So still shoulder circles. We're just going forward. I'll even send my elbows wide and that's going to take the stretch into the middle of the back there. Maybe still moving with our breath, if we can. Good. And we'll let that rest. Take up a little bit of space. Sweep up the arms. Big stretch out. And as you reach overhead, just reach really high as if you were getting taller. We'll bring one arm down and reach straight up with the other. And then find a big side stretch. Maybe lift up and look towards the ceiling if you want a little extra, little extra stretch there. Inhale to come back to your center and all the way down, right into the other side. Sweep up both arms again, reaching up nice and tall. This time, leaving the opposite arm up, bringing one arm down. Big side stretch. Maybe you're holding onto the chair for security here. Anything that keeps us safe and stable. Maybe a little twist upwards. And then inhale all the way back to your center. Next, we're going to do our first little twist of the day and that's going to really focus in on our core. So our pelvic floor, our abdomen, our sides, and our back. So for a moment, as you inhale, get up a little taller as if someone was pulling you from the crown of your head. As you exhale, draw the belly in. That's just setting up all these muscles in a really stable way. Do that once more. Inhale nice and tall. Exhale, draw in. Now we're going to twist, maybe taking the hands to the heart. Twisting to one direction. Inhale, come back to your center. Exhale, twist the other direction. Still using these strong muscles. One more each way. Inhale, center. Exhale, twist. Inhale, center. Exhale, twist. Come on back. Let the arms rest and place them down in your lap. Next we're going to find a sitting cat-cow. It's a big move in yoga that's just so good for the spine. If it's new to you, that's all good. We'll walk through it. So we'll start with just a nice, tall, neutral posture. And as we inhale, we're going to lift our chest towards the ceilings. Inhaling to lift our chest. Lift the chin a little. And as you exhale, I want you to start in the belly. Draw the belly back. Pull the belly button back to the spine. Round in the shoulders and let the back of the neck stretch out. Use an inhale to come up to that first position. So this is the cow portion of cat-cow. And as you exhale, rounding in the back. Continue with that. I'm going to turn so you can see what I'm doing perhaps a bit better. Inhaling to open. So we find the arch in the back there. Exhale. Pull the belly back. Round in the back. Round in the back. Round in the upper back. Head hangs. Two more. One more. Good. Press back up to a good, tall posture. And we'll use that same thought but just kind of change it. So let's bring the hands to the back of the neck. And we're going to find that same curvature but just side to side. So nice, tall posture to begin. Even exhale to draw the belly and that's going to keep our core nice and strong and stable. And perhaps as we exhale, we just bring one elbow down. And out. Inhale, center. Exhale. Go the other way. Inhale, center. Exhale. Drop an elbow. Inhale, center. Exhale. Drop the other elbow. One more. Each direction. Come all the way back up to that good, tall posture. Hands can come down to our sides once again. We'll get the hips a little warmed up. First fold of the day. So we'll just reach forward and then just bend from the hips. Do your best to keep a nice, flat back when you do this. So just walking the hands down towards the feet. Maybe it touches the floor. Maybe not. Not important here. Lovely way to stretch out the back. It's also calming to the nervous system. As we breathe, our bellies press into our legs and our legs kind of press back. Tricking the nervous system into being a bit more calm. Feel free to let your head hang here. You don't have to look up the way I am. Maybe we just add a bit more here. Take one arm and just reach towards the opposite side of the body. Just across the body here. Maybe towards that foot. And then back to the center. Other arm. Reach across the body towards that opposite foot. It's just a little extra stretch for the different sides of the back. One more each way. One more each way. Bring the hands to the thighs. Use your strong arms to press yourself up. Back up to a nice, tall posture. Let's get the blood flowing a little bit with some bigger movements. Inhale, reach up towards the sky. Exhale, fold all the way down again. We're just not going to hang out too long there. Inhale, all the way up. Exhale, fold all the way down. Inhale, up. Exhale to come down. Let's just do one more. Inhale, all the way up. Exhale, come on down. And then sweep up to return to our tall posture. Feel free to take a moment. If you have something to drink, take a little sip of water. Catch your breath if you lost it. That's okay. We always can find it again. And then from there, we're going to give a little focus to our hands. So just for a moment, no matter how stiff or flexible the hands are feeling right now, just start by opening and closing the hands. You don't have to hold them high. They can stay right here in the lap. Just sensing how the hands are feeling today. Maybe we can create a little bit of independent movement by wiggling the thumb, wiggling the index finger, the middle, the ring finger, and the pinky finger. Might not be perfect circles all the way through, but really just trying to make that mind-to-muscle connection. It's a little challenge for the brain. Maybe move the hands about as if you were playing a piano. And then we'll work into the wrists here. So you can make a light fist and just move the wrist up and down. And side to side. Maybe we can do some circles in here. Great way to get the blood flowing. Also a good way to wake yourself up. I'll do this in the afternoons as opposed to having a little caffeine instead. And it'll just get my blood flowing, get my brain going. Good. Relax that. And we'll focus in on the next joint in the body, the elbow. So perhaps as if we're a big, strong weightlifter, let's just act as if we were holding weights in our hands and squeeze the arms up to the top. Stretching them out long and even taking them behind us a little. Squeezing the muscles in. You can really create a lot of strength here without any weight at all. If you want more work out of it, just squeeze the muscles more up here. And then relax the arms, even stretch back a little. We'll do three more of those. Squeezing at the top. Stretching at the bottom. Two more. Relax the arms. And we're going to take one arm across the body and literally just give ourselves a little massage. So maybe start by just kind of poking around, see if the muscles feel kind of tight today. You can clamp down on that meaty part right by the neck. And just kind of squeeze around a little bit. Noticing if you can find any tight, tender spots. And when you're ready, switching to the other side. Taking the arm across the body, just kind of poking around. Maybe clamping down on that strong muscle next to the neck. Squeezing about. And just create a little warmth. Any and all of that is good. Relax the arms, just for a moment. Catch your breath. The arms are getting a little tired. We don't have too much more before we move on to another portion of the body. Let's bring the hands to the shoulders here. And just kind of let your fingertips touch. And our focus here is we're going to move our elbows in and out. So maybe starting with the elbows as close to the face as we can do. Inhale to open. Exhale to close. Inhale to open. Exhale to close. Inhale to open the arms. Exhale close. Inhale open. And close. I'm going to change directions, lifting the elbows up and down. So maybe inhale to lift. Exhale to lower. Inhale to lift the elbows. Stretching these muscles right here. Even feeling it in our belly a little. Exhale to lower. Inhale to lift. Exhale to lower. These are a little tougher than the other ones. One more. Inhale high. Exhale lower. Those elbows all the way down. Maybe shake it out if you felt the need. And sometimes that's just kind of fun to create a little free movement. We're going to find some similar shapes. Stretch the arms out. This time making almost like a stop if you're trying to stop someone. Stop hands. And we're going to try the wrist one more time here by just dropping the hands down. Coming back up to stop hands. Taking the hands down and back up. And back up just a couple times there. And then we'll leave them back up to palms facing out. Inhale lift high. Exhale bring the arms down in front of your face. Inhale lift high. Exhale arms down. Inhale. Exhale to bring them down. Inhale to lift. Exhale to bring them down. Now out and in. Inhale to open. Squeezing the shoulder blades behind you. Exhale to close. Inhale to open. Exhale to close. Inhale to open the arms nice and wide. As wide as you can go. Exhale just bring them back in front of you. Let's do two more. Inhale open. Exhale close. Let the arms come down. Shake it out. And then we'll move on to another part of the body. Take a moment to look down at our awesome feet. They've gotten us everywhere thus far. I imagine they will continue to do so. So let's get a little gratitude and just kind of look down at our feet and create some movement. Maybe just rocking back and forth on the feet. A really good way to get the arches of the feet going. Maybe side to side. I'll stretch out the sides of the ankles. Maybe just taking a moment to open and close the toes. Kind of crunch them closed. Stretch them out. Crunch them close. Stretch them out. Stretch them out. All these are great ways for getting into all the joints that are located in the feet there. So just take a moment to do any of the things I just said. Or if you've got another move that feels good, we're just getting the feet going here. Just taking a moment to get the feet working. Waking them up. And then once you feel nice and supple in your feet, just kind of let them sink right back into the floor here. Or into your shoes if you're wearing shoes. And we're going to stretch out our ankles. So we're just going to stretch out our foot. It doesn't have to be too high off the ground. But if you really want a little extra challenge, sit up nice and tall and keep that foot high. But you don't have to. You can keep it low if you want. And just start by maybe pointing and flexing the foot. Pointing and flexing. Pointing like a ballerina. Flexing like you're wearing a boot. Maybe from there we can draw some circles. One direction. Then the other. Also really good for blood flow. Go ahead and set that foot down. We'll do the exact same thing on the other side. So we're pointing the foot and flexing the foot. You decide how high that foot is off the ground. Point and flex. Point and flex. Just a couple more. Maybe move into those circles we did on the other side. Go both directions. Good. Set that foot down. From here, go ahead and grab for your yoga strap or your dish towel or your belt. Whatever we're using. And it doesn't have to be too specific, but this can just help us reach our body. So from here, you may find you don't need it and we can just hold the leg up. But if for whatever reason the arms don't feel long enough, we'll go for this strap. Bring it underneath one leg. Come up to that good posture. Exhale, draw the belly in. We're going to lift this foot off the ground. So with or without the strap, you may find, as I said, you may not need it. But it's nice to have and not need as opposed to the other way around. So we've got this knee in the air just a little bit. And we're just going to find some nice knee swings here. Just getting the knees warmed up. Getting the muscles around the knees warmed up. Just gently kicking the leg out. Drawing back in. Kicking the leg out. Drawing back in. We'll set that side down. We'll set that side down. Go right to the other side with or without our prop here. Lifting that knee high. Remembering to find our nice tall posture. And stretch that leg out. Bring it back. Stretch that leg out. Bring it back. Stretch. And draw in. Stretch. And draw in. Let's do one more. And we'll set that side down. Keeping the prop nearby. Let's just stretch out one foot here. Doesn't matter which foot. And we want pretty much to go straight out. And from here, if we're using the strap, we're going to try and get that around the bottom of the foot. To some degree. You may find that your dish towel is not quite long enough for this. But of course, if we inhale nice and tall and reach forward, maybe it could work. From here, just stretching, pulling that foot towards you. Maybe stretching that leg out all the way. Maybe there's a slight bend in the knee. Either way, whatever feels best in your body. And another option altogether is to set that aside and just reach towards your foot. So you can decide how you want to go about that. Remembering to take a couple big, deep breaths. Inhale all the way up. Same thing other side. You decide if the prop was helpful or not. Sometimes they can get in the way if we're overusing them. But it is nice to have them around often. So maybe looping that foot, maybe just reaching towards that foot. But we've got the legs stretched out, reaching our arms out. And then we're going to take a couple of deep breaths. We've got the legs stretched out, reaching our arms, and then folding from the hips. Big stretch behind the leg. Good. Release the prop. Set it off to the side. Sit up all the way. And let's come back to a little more quicker movement. Let's get our blood flowing again a little faster. So from here, come back to that good, tall posture all the way up. And we're going to step each foot out and get the brain going by doing opposites. So following along, one step out to the side. Other side. Big step out. Step out. You decide how big these steps are. Your hips will decide that. If the hips are feeling tight, they're not going to want to go very wide. And that's all right. So maybe they're just little steps. But we're getting our hips warmed up, using them from a side-to-side motion, making them stronger. And maybe you've got a bit more energy, and you were just clipping along. Maybe you're going twice the pace I am. And that's awesome if you want to do that. Or maybe we're moving right at this nice, steady pace. One side. Then the other. One side. Then the other. Two more each way. Good. Bring both feet back in. And this time, we're going to keep that movement going. This time, it's like we're taking a walk, but we're sitting right here. So pick up one leg, then the other. Maybe get the arms going. Maybe we can do opposite. So opposite arm, opposite leg. Sometimes my brain wants to do the same, though. So maybe you pretty quickly started doing this. And that's okay, too. Either are good. Either are helpful for the body. Just one might be a little more challenging for the brain. Hmm. And by doing these opposite sides of the body, we are connecting the two sides of the brain and getting a little bit stronger in our coordination. Creating a sharper mind. It's helpful for memory. I'm just having a bit more clarity. Good. Maybe pick up the pace with me for just a short little bit as we finish out. One and two, and one and two, and one and two, and one and two. Relax. Set the feet back down. Catch your breath if you lost it. Take a sip of water. Take a moment if you need. When you're ready, just sit a little bit back in your chair. It's going to give us a bit more stability for our next move. And from here, we're going to come back to the idea of kicking, but we're going to alternate. So kick one leg out and then the other. Keeping our good posture. If you find that you're slouching, that's okay. Just mindfully come back. You know how to sit up tall. Exhale, draw the belly in. It's going to make it a little easier to sit up tall. So kicking out, alternating legs, and maybe if we can kick a little higher, we can reach below and do a little clap. So maybe clapping underneath the knee or just touching fingertips. Another good coordination move. Kick as high as you can and reach. Kick as high as you can and reach on each side. One more each way. You're doing great. Good. Let that relax just for a moment. Letting the legs take a little mini break. Coming back up to our good posture and maybe scooting away from the backs of our chair just a little. I'm going to find some big twists. So let's reach the arms up nice and high. And as we exhale, let's twist towards one direction, bringing one arm in front, one arm in back. Inhale, reach high. Exhale, twist the other way. Leading with the opposite arm. Inhale, reach up. Exhale to twist. Inhale, reach up. Exhale to twist. Inhale, high. Exhale, twist. Inhale, high. Exhale, twist. One more each way. Move with your breath. One more each way. Move with your breath. Come back to the center. And the hands come down. So we're going to find a couple of poses that are typically done standing, but we're going to do the sitting variation for this next little segment. So let's find mountain pose. And that is just a really intentional way of either standing or sitting, really focusing in on your posture and all the other muscles that we can accrue into it. So I'm going to start with my feet and really plant the feet.
