Resolution 20 1:01:10

The Council voted on a resolution calling upon the Mayor to take all appropriate action, including legal action, to compel representatives of Ky.-American Water Co. to appear before the Urban County Council. Motion was made by Crosbie and seconded by McChord. The resolution failed by roll call vote with 7 ayes and 8 nays.

Budget and Financial Actions

The meeting approved the following financial actions:

Police Roll Call West Renovation - Resolution 2 authorized a contract with Minnifield Enterprize for $58,964 to complete renovations at Police Roll Call West.

LFUCG Municipal Recycling Facility Renovation - Resolution 8 authorized a contract with BCD, Inc. for $419,500.01 to complete renovations at the LFUCG Municipal Recycling Facility.

Public Comment

Bernard McCarthy addressed the meeting at 1:28:31 with questions directed at the mayoral candidates regarding road construction and maintenance. Mr. McCarthy specifically inquired about the candidates' plans for street diets and conversions from one-way to two-way streets.

Contested Items

Resolution to Compel Ky.-American Water Co. to Appear Before the Council

The Council considered a resolution that would have compelled Kentucky-American Water Company to appear before the Council. The measure resulted in a split vote, failing 7-8.

Council members expressed concerns about the legality and appropriateness of pursuing legal action to compel the company's appearance. These concerns centered on whether the Council had the authority to sue the company for this purpose and whether doing so would be an appropriate use of the Council's powers.
